My Approach

Successful therapy has a lot to do with a good personality fit. If you have been to therapy before, you know that the therapist really needs to be someone you feel comfortable talking to. If you haven't been to therapy before, know that it is encouraged to ask questions about the therapist to determine if they are a good match for you.

I know that it is possible to find lasting change through a caring, trustworthy relationship. I believe that at our core, our needs are simple: we need to be seen, heard and to know that we matter. I want to get to know you as a person to determine how we should approach your current concerns. While I may make recommendations and be able to offer insight I won't tell you what to do. You are the expert on your life and I see my role as a supporter that is able to stay objective and curious, when you and/or those closest to you are not able to fill that role.

Using a relational, neuroscience informed approach I utilize several methods of reaching change. I am a client-centered therapist, which means that I know that each client may need something different and one of the most important aspects of therapy will be our interactions, together. Using a framework rooted in attachment and psychodynamic theories, I may utilize interventions from many sources including experiential and cognitive based models including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and AEDP.
